My dog smells!!!?

I have a shar-pei and he is really smelly after I bathe him he smells nice for about 1 day I bathe him with johnsons baby shampoo recommended by the breeder! Does anyone know how I can stop him from smelling so bad??
Bathe him weekly with a sensitive skin or oatmeal dog shampoo…in lukewarm water..and clean his wrinkles with a tearless shampoo and a hand towel…they could be a part of the problem… Also it could have alot to do with diet try a natural dog food like, Nutro or the less pricey natures recipe…with the natural foods you dont have the fillers and it gives them a healthier coat (and less poo!!)….. All so dont spends lots of money on "doggy wipes" use sensitive baby wipes instead…use these on wrinkles and ears between cleanings Hope that helps… And please dont use "pet body sprays" on him shar pei skin is way to sensitive for that and he could start losing hair in clumps…if you do use one make sure it is hypo-allergenic

Is he dirty? Does he roll in things when he's outside? If not, then he could be sick, and you should take him to the vet.

Check with your vet to see if he has a skin infection. That can make them stinky. Or try washing between his wrinkles often because they hold bacteria that stinks. I'd use a shampoo for dogs, because they are different from babies.

Try a different baby shampoo. Johnson's is too watery and not lathery enough, I think. Try Huggies baby wash.

Basicly shar-pei smell so the only solution I can think of is to give him a bath once he starts to smell again.

Give him a tomato juice bath. They use it for removing skunk odor so it should work fine on regular odors.

its because of the folds in his skin. dogs w/'wrinkles' need to be wiped down daily with doggy 'bath' wipes. they sell them at petsmart or walmart may carry them….theyre basically like baby wipes but get ones made for pets to be safe. anyway, make sure to wipe in between the folds to keep him smelling good and also to keep bacteria from growing. also, dont use baby shampoo. use shampoo made for your pet. try one with oatmeal and all natural ingredients so itll be gentle for your dog since you'll need to bathe him a little more often then 'regular' dogs. try giving him a bath every 2-3 weeks, but you should be able to last 3 weeks if youre wiping him down daily w/the bath wipes.

do you clean and dry all of the deep folds and wrinkles of skin also. these dogs are known for bad ear problems also. Don't bathe him more than once a month that'll make the problems even worse . all dogs need the oils in their skin.

Does he play outside? They have body spray for dogs. You should go to pets mart. I had some for my dog. It smelled like baby powder. I would spray him when I couldn't bathe him to help cover his smell. Even after a bath, I would spray him to give him that yummy smell.

Most people bathe their dog once a week. But a sharpei has a lot of folds and crevices so it collects dirt faster. Maybe u should bathe him 2 or 3 times a week instead of only once.

Okay, I own, and show shar peis and this sounds very odd. i believe that you definitly should at least call a vet. Shar peis can get something called mange which can cause a horrible smell.
