Chinese Shar pei 12 weeks old?

I recently got a bear coated chinese Shar pei on thursday, it is now monday and he has only moved to go to hi food bowl, he will not interact with anyone and does not like being touched, he will not move on a lead and doesnt acknowledge even being rubbed,, i am very worried about him, he has never barked or even cried,, any suggestions as to what could be wrong and suggested solutions would be great. i met his breeder and know he was not mistreated as a pup.

If he hasn't seen a vet yet, you should probably make an appointment. He should be getting his second set of vaccines soon so you can ask then if he looks ok. Try finding some really great smelling treats and with those encourage him to be more confident. Reward him when you put the leash on him and he walks a little, and give him treats when you pet him and play with him. He sounds like he could be lethargic, so if he's also not eating, there may be a medical issue. The fact that he does not like being touched and is doesn't have any attachment to people sounds like a behavioural issue. At that age, a behavioural issue is probably genetically in him. First check with a vet and make sure he gets a clean bill of health. If he is still acting as he is, as a dog trainer to do a puppy personality test and see if he passes, then ask them what to do from there.

Good luck!

He's probably just a little nervous still in his new surroundings. My puppy was incredibly antisocial for a day or two when I first brought him home.

Make an appointment with a vet for this week, for a checkup and to set up the rest of his vaccinations. Bring a stool sample, and they'll take a good look and make sure that nothing's wrong with this health.

Good luck with the new pup!
